Gum Disease Treatment
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums due to plaque (food remains and bacteria) on teeth near the gum.
- Regular professional cleaning is recommended and instructions on improving daily oral hygiene habits. Periodontitis is inflammation of the gums, ligaments and bones structures supporting the teeth. The outcome of neglected periodontal disease is tooth loss, bone resorption and a depressed mouth morphology. A special periodontal cleaning called scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) to remove calculi by hand or ultrasonic scalers is usually recommended.
